In an effort to reduce energy costs and consumption, Spectrum provides free conservation measures (including energy-efficient appliances and weather-stripping) as well as education on energy-related home safety issues to eligible residents of Alameda County. By reducing the amount of outside air infiltration into homes and apartments, our friendly and efficient technicians increase clients’ comfort while lowering their energy costs.
What the program offers:
Health and Safety Measures
- Combustion Appliance Safety Check (i.e. testing gas-operated appliances for the presence of carbon-monoxide)
- Carbon-Monoxide Detector Installation
Weatherization Measures
- Attic insulation and venting
- Weather stripping
- Low-flow showerhead and faucet aerators
- Outlet gaskets
- Water heater blankets
- Caulking
- Glass replacement for broken windows
Energy-Efficient Appliances
You may be eligible to receive the following:
- a refrigerator (if yours is 10 years-old or older)
- a microwave oven
Applicants must:
- live in the following cities of Alameda County: Alameda, Castro Valley, Fremont, Hayward, Livermore, Newark, Oakland, Pleasanton, San Leandro, San Lorenzo, Union City.
- furnish a complete PG&E or Alameda Power & Telecom bill.
- provide proof of monthly income for the entire household, not to exceed HEAP/Weatherization Program income guidelines:
